Volunteer Spotlight
Mark and Cindy Ball

Mark and Cindy Ball - Adaptive Adventures VolunteersWe hear it again and again…our lives are so busy, that it’s hard to do something for someone else. That’s not part of this husband and wife team’s vocabulary. Mark and Cindy Ball truly define the spirit of volunteerism and from the very start, they have helped Adaptive Adventures define and pursue its mission.

Cindy Ball is currently developing her own video production business. As all entrepreneurs know, business success takes countless hours; making contacts, following up on leads, landing contracts and then, if you have any energy left, actually producing the product! On top of that, Cindy is still very involved in her two childrens’ lives and has a part-time photography job throughout the year. Ok already, she’s a busy woman, and still she makes time for Adaptive Adventures.

Mark Ball has a successful career in sales and recently added real estate to his resume. He spends his days traveling around Denver on sales calls, making sure his customers are satisfi ed with the products and the service. Mark entered the real estate industry at a critical point and though the industry is in crisis, he continues to list and sell properties as a Keller Williams agent. Good training for when the market rebounds! OK already, he’s a busy guy and still he makes time for Adaptive Adventures.

In the Winter, look for them at the All Mountain Camps; they are both excellent sit-ski instructors who enjoy working with students and helping them improve their skills. They also volunteer at the NSCD and the Disabled Veterans’ Snowmass Event. In the Summer, the Balls provide support to the adaptive cycling programs, the Colorado Jr. Wheelchair Camp, and the Stars of Tomorrow kids programming.

All year long you can count on “Team Ball” to help further the mission of Adaptive Adventures and raise money to keep the programs’ accessible and aff ordable. Cindy has been an active Board member for three years. Their efforts make the Greg Reilly Memorial Golf Gathering a very successful fundraiser by bringing in lots of players and valuable auction items.

Like most great volunteers, if you ask Mark and Cindy why they volunteer they don’t really have an answer. When asked, both say that the opportunity to work with people with disabilities makes them feel great. “The wounded soldiers, kids, victims of accidents - they all come back to sports and recreation. They want to experience the thrill and the fun they had before they were disabled. We’re just happy to help.”
